Aw, Henrik's Moving

Henrik is away working in Edmonton for the next week or two, so I'm back feeding the cuddly kitty.

No hockey or soccer games to watch with Kitty this week, so last night we just watched the news together.

Henrik' s found a job with more pay in Edmonton, so when he comes back he's going to take Kitty back with him up north. We're going to miss them both.

Go Germany!

I've been kind of busy with marathon training this last month. Now that the long runs are in, the kids are out of school and I've got a couple of weeks off work, I'm puttering about the house getting ready for some guests.

Somewhere in there I've still managed to catch the occasional World Cup game on t.v., usually when Germany's playing. Go Germany!

Since I have the OLN channel this summer, I think I'll watch a little bit of the Tour de France, while I'm at it.

Henrik Came Home

Henrik is home, and Kitty was very happy to see him!

I have had such a busy week carting kiddos off to a band concert, a soccer game, grocery shopping and then a school family night at the amusement park. Henrik gave me a lovely gift as thank you and I'm afraid I was terribly rude as I rushed about, trying not to be late.

Maybe this weekend I can relax a bit around home, and have a beer or something with Henrik and the Kitty.

Feathers and a Squeak

Apparently I'm not the only one Kitty is finding outside more often. Today my son and his friend saw Kitty heading for the cat flap with something in it's mouth. I headed down into Henrik's suite and sure enough I heard a squeak from the shower stall. There was Kitty, who had the mouse cornered, and the mouse too afraid to move.

I grabbed the CD container and the magazine again, and trapped the mouse with no problem. I set the mouse on the table and gave the cat a package of soft meat. The dry kibble bowl was still half full, but I topped it up while I was there.

There were some small grey feathers on the floor, too. I took a quick glance around, to see if maybe there was a live bird hanging around, but it seems I didn't make it in time to rescue that "guest".

See you soon, Henrik!

Kitty is Still Alive

With all the nice weather we've been having, Kitty has been finding me outside more often. I brought up some food from Henrik's basement and have been feeding her outside on our deck sometimes.

Funny cat, she likes to lick up all the gravy from the Wiskas soft chunky stuff and then she comes back for the meat later.

I think Kitty will be very, very happy when Henrik comes home. She's been meowing at me more lately. "Where's Henrik? What have you done with him!"

Cat Nap

Sunday after my hilly long run, Little Runner and I went over to visit Kitty. I didn't make it Saturday, so Kitty was hungry. Little Runner and I curled up on the couch and she watched a kids show on t.v. while the cat curled up on me. I fell asleep and had a nice, cuddly nap.

Henrik e-mailed that he made it to his home town and is enjoying seeing his family again. He said he was going to take his nephew to visit the new baby elephant at the zoo. Cool, I didn't know there was a zoo in Leipzig.

Kitty, I don't know if you can compete with a nephew and a baby elephant. Then again, baby elephants probably don't purr as nicely as you do. And you're a lot cleaner than one, too...

No more Flames games for me and Kitty - we're out of the playoffs. How did that happen! Okay, okay, I know how that happened. I watched the game. Darn Ducks.

So tonight after my run Kitty and I watched Shane get voted off Survivor: Exile Island. Finally! I almost thought they would keep him until he made his "I've got a little more rust - so they'll take me to the Final 2" speech. This is a very interesting game. Terry's winning all the immunities but ticking off the jury. Terry should have had Boston go to the camp and taken Cirie on the overnight. Cirie has run the show for the last 2 votes, but I don't know if she can eliminate Danielle or Aras.

In other pop culture, I'm fine with the last 4 American Idol finalists, too. I think Katharine McPhee should win it all, and Elliot should go home next, but they're all very good.

Bla bla bla, are you listening, Kitty?
